About
It is the Gynaecology and Obstetrics room dedicated to the memory of medical student Ioannis Makridima, a victim of a car accident. The operating theatre, the examination bed and the incubators belonged to the clinic of his father, Vasileios Makridima, a gynaecologist-obstetrician in Ioannina. In addition to all the necessary equipment of a gynaecological clinic, it included one of the first electro-diplo-tocographs, which recorded the cardiograms of twins separately, a sterile furnace and a series of sterile drums.
A rare early 20th century incinerator , unfortunately stolen.
For the record, it is noteworthy that a significant number of female students report and admit that they were placed in an incubator as newborns. In stark contrast, the students are reluctant to mention anything similar. The female students even seem to take pride in the fact that although they were premature babies, they succeeded in gaining admission to medical school.
